About Me
Hi! I'm Celja (pronounced Seal-ya). I am a cell developmental biologist fascinated with understanding faithful chromosome inheritance during sexual reproduction. My research combines advanced microscopy, genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry to investigate fundamental mechanisms of meiosis – the specialized cell division program that produces sperm and eggs.
I'm also a passionate educator who believes that everybody deserves access to a strong education, which I see as essential for thoughtfully navigating the challenges of modern society. Through my teaching and mentorship, I strive to make science accessible and engaging for all students and aim to cultivate lifelong learners who can carry scientific thinking into any career path.
